Plantation Middle School is a middle school located in Plantation, Broward County, Florida at 6600 West Sunrise Boulevard. Construction of the school began in 1968 and the school was officially opened in 1970. The principal is Mrs. Patricia Hague, Ed.D. It has been labeled a "B" school by the Florida Department of Education for the 2008-09 school year. This is an improvement from the "C" they received the previous year

Extracurricular Programs

The athletic teams known as the "Patriots" are headed by Mr. Cedrick C. Maddox. Plantation Middle has a Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Track, Volleyball, and Flag Football team. In spring 2005 the Flag Football Team was the Regional Champions.They also have cheerleading and a band program. Besides the primary band Plantation Middle School's band program includes a jazz band, and a beginner band, which is exclusive to first-year band students. The band director and conductor is Ms. Kathleen Crotty. The active clubs the school has includes National Junior Honor Society, The PC Explorers Club, the Math Club, Human Relations Council, Yearbook Club, and Student Government Association. They also have many other clubs, which are available to see at the school's website.

School Standards and Curriculum

Plantation Middle School's mission statement is "We, the members of the Plantation Middle School Community, are committed to ensuring that all students receive a quality education, within a safe and secure learning environment." It's uniform policy is to wear Red, White, Blue or Plantation Middle School spirit shirts. The four required academic classes are Science, Social Studies, Mathematics and Language Arts. They also have many electives including Literary Arts or Advanced Communications Skills (ACS), which is a magnet program that is unique to the school.
